The event is a self-guided tour of open studios and exhibitions with area fine-artist, gallery, and retail participation. <br><br> This weekend long event is the inaugural Atlantic Avenue Art Walk in Boerum Hill for and highlights the fine art and culture of the area during a tremendous time of change and attention to the avenue. The mapped area includes the area surrounding Atlantic Avenue from Fourth Avenue to Smith Street. <br><br> More than 30 artists will be participating as well as roughly 20 neighborhood establishments. A wide diversity of media will be represented with Art Walk shows & open studios including painting, sculpture, drawing, watercolor, photography, digital media, and textiles. Artists participating in Art Walk have shown work in cities such as Paris, Belfast, Tokyo, Rome, San Francisco, New York, Brooklyn and beyond. Their work has been exhibited in venues as varied as Art Basel Miami, Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA), Contemporary Arts Center (CAC Cincinnati), London Fashion & Textile Museum, Williamsburg Art & Historical Center, and New York Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition. <br><br> The neighborhood businesses supporting the arts weekend are hosting exhibitions and many are holding special events in their spaces. A sampling of the atmosphere to expect ranges from a Jazz trio performance at Downtown Atlantic Restaurant at the closing of the tour 7pm, Sunday June 20th as well as contemporary furniture and design boutique, Darr hosting Brooklyn DJ sets during the tour. There will be printing demos at Artezn as well as receptions for the artists at several boutiques along the Avenue. <a href="http://www.colab-projects.com/artwalk">www.colab-projects.com/artwalk. <br><br> The Art Walk is designed to highlight the established and emerging Brooklyn artists and grow awareness of the depth and extent of arts throughout the Atlantic Avenue districts. The open studio facilitates a more immediate relationship between artist and viewer, offering a chance for artists to share current bodies of work as well as providing a glimpse into the creation process. Artists will be on hand at many of the exhibitions of work hosted by local businesses, providing additional opportunities for feedback and exchange of ideas. <br><br> The Art Walk will mark the beginning of an ongoing project. The mission of the event and longer term activities such as further tours are to foster the network among the artists as well as the community.
