September 2004:
Better Tomorrow opens at the new Supreme Trading's Annex in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on September 10, 2004. The show, curated by Joseph Ari Aloi and Lisa Shimamura, includes artists Gary Breslin, Sean Carmody, Sam Cole, David Ellis, EVaQ, Maya Hayuk, Kenji Hirata, Dustin Hostetler (upso), Mike Houston, JK5, Naomi Kazama (South), MADSAKI, David Mashburn, Martin Mazorra, Chris Mendoza (Edec), Bill McMullen, David Rees, Rostarr, Yuri Shimojo, Yoshi Sodeoka (C505), Tofer, and more.

Better Tomorrow is a large-scale group show with two distinct themes; exploring views of the world that we live in today vs. the world as it can be tomorrow. The themes will be approached through a diverse range of aesthetics and media, presenting a landscape of imagery and ideas in large-scale murals, paintings, prints, video, sculpture and more. Better Tomorrow seeks to evoke response and action from the viewer, calling upon our collective communities to act and react during this critical time.

To further the voice of the show, seven artists participating in Better Tomorrow have created work specially for an accompanying poster project. This poster series features artists Joseph Ari Aloi, David Ellis, Kenji Hirata, Dustin Hostetler, Mike Houston, and South

These posters are part of a project that is equal parts public art show and campaign. Borrowing on the media of political campaigning, the seven posters are wheatpasted in Brooklyn and Manhattan during the course of the show, eliciting action, dialogue, and change in anticipation of the 2004 election. The complete edition of the poster series will be available at the gallery.

Better Tomorrow runs from September 10 - October 10, 2004. Opening reception Friday, September 10th, 7-11pm. Supreme Trading's hours are daily 12pm-6pm.
