| A BETTER TOMORROW | ||
The Better Tomorrow project was born with a group show with two distinct themes; exploring views of the world that we live in today vs. the world as it can be tomorrow through the voices of over 30 contemporary artists interpreting the theme in large-scale murals, paintings, prints, video, sculpture, and more. To further the voice and reach of the show, seven artists participating in BetterTomorrow created original artwork for an accompanying poster campaign. The poster series - equal parts public art and campaign were wheatpasted in New York City during the course of the show, eliciting action, dialogue, and change. Colab conceived of, secured sponsorship, published the poster series, mounted the series as a public art project, and produced the group show under the same name. The project was curated by Lisa Shimamura of Colab and artist, Joseph Ari Aloi (JK5). The first Better Tomorrow limited-edition poster series featured artists JK5, David Ellis, Kenji Hirata, Dustin Hostetler (UPSO), Mike Houston, and Naomi Kazama (South). The series traveled and was shown at “For the People, By the People” curated by Maya Hayuk at Transport Gallery in Los Angeles. The resulting proceeds of the poster series were donated to human rights, non-profit organization, Students for a Free Tibet.
