ATLANTIC AVENUE ART WALK

Founded by Colab Projects in 2004, Artwalk is a multi-disciplinary, weekend-long, annual art event with open artist studios, exhibits, special events, public art, and performances. Spanning ten blocks on Atlantic Avenue, ArtWalk connects five of downtown Brooklyn's most dynamic neighborhoods; serves over 350 emerging and established visual and performing aritsts; and coordinates programming in 75 venues from artist studios, storefronts, galleries, and public space to community centers and churches. Colab liaises closely with local businesses to execute workshops, readings, films, murals, print-makings, and demonstrations and to ensure that all programming is free and open to the public.

For seven years, Colab Projects has produced and managed all aspects of ArtWalk including grant writing, fundraising, outreach, marketing, and working partnerships with Atlantic Avenue Development Corporation, Independence Community Foundation, Time Warner Cable, Con Edison, and elected officials. The 2007 and 2009 communications campaigns included an Emmy-Award winning public service announcements directed by one of ArtWalk's founding artists, Mac Premo.
