As founding partner of Mama Reps, Lisa Shimamura provided artist representation, comprehensive event & exhibition production, and music licensing services for client H&M. The campaign included print ads, outdoor billboards, in-store collateral, and a licensed limited edition CD featuring GEO-LOGY. The launch event to celebrate this campaign was timed for New York Fashion Week and kicked off a month long exhibition featuring the Barnstormers. Production for exhibit Barnstormers: Billboards included life-size reproductions of a barn, farm-house,eighteen-wheeler - the largest 8’x50’ - installed in two galleries spaces. During the exhibition, the Barnstormers continuously over-painted the billboards, layering the work of 20+ artists evolving through the course of the show. A special limited-edition t-shirt created by Barnstormers was donated by H&M and will be sold through their stores. All proceeds went directly to Art Start, a 501(c)3 whose model for using the arts to save lives and transform communities has been recognized by the President’s Service Award. During the show, Art Start led workshops on site including collaborative painting workshops with the young artists from their shelter programs and members of the Barnstormers. The exhibition and workshops were sponsored by Hennes & Mauritz. The motion-painting film Letter to the President was created on site and the billboard murals traveled to Barnstormers: Retrospective three-month long exhibition at Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art. (SECCA).
